Former Prime minister Mr. Marichman Singh Shrestha Passes Away.

The Former Prime minister Mr. Marichman Singh Shrestha passes away Today (Thursday) morning at Norvic Hospital, Thapathali, Kathmandu.

He was suffering from lung cancer since long time. He was taken to Medanta Hospital, one of the largest multi super specialty Hospital of New Delhi, india. Tuesday evening he was taken back from India on air ambulance after no improvement in his health. Then he was admitted to Norvic hospital thapathali on the same night. He was returned back to country because he wanted to die in Nepal, the family source said.

Late Marichman Singh Shrestha was born 71 years ago at Khalanga, Salyan district. He was born on 1999 BS. Shrestha was known as rigid nationalist leader of Nepal. He was Speaker of National Assembly of Nepal before become prime minister. He became Prime of Nepal for about four years from 2042 BS – 2046 BS. He was a famous politician on his time but he never involved in  parties. He served as an independent politician.

Mr. Shrestha was the first prime minister from ethnic Newar community of Nepal. People criticized him for widespread repression to opposition on people’s movement of 2046 BS.

He have a wife, three son ( Anil, Sanjaya, Rajan) and one daughter (Rashmi). His death body has been kept on his own home located at Dhapashi, Kathmandu for condolence. Afternoon the body will takes to Pashupati  Aaryaghat to perform last rites.
